In the beginning, though, I expected a more moderate roll out of trump world (and I was wrong, too), because I believed most people would wish to maintain what worked and not blow it all up
I was wrong, so wrong
but I quickly figured out what was happening only a month or two into the administration and could then begin charting where the train was headed and could see, pretty clearly (no matter how contrary to the, then, public commentary) that it was going to crash
hard
my issues with trump are complicated -- he reminds me (a lot) of my mother and so I respond, unconsciously, to those aspects that echo her
I don't like bullies and I don't like liars and he's both, to an extreme
however, looked at strictly from a management style analytics, trump is a TERRIBLE manager; holy fuck, he just runs shit into the ground
and he is doing the same once again
he is a con (an important element in predicting future events -- and I dare say that, overall, I have been one of the more accurate predictors of what would happen) and is out for himself
but -- my reaction to trump and his PT Barnum charade
is not to throw out the former system
it is to throw out trump but keep what was here before he (and his team) started burning down the villages
I am a Capitalist at heart and am all for people having money and have no issues with business success, provided they honor their contracts and don't pollute nonstop I am all for them doing well
I do not believe we should take from the rich and give to the poor
in a policy promoting a "redistribution of wealth"
I see many people suggesting this and I do not think this way, at all
I DO think it is important that we have social and economic policies that provide equal opportunities to all
and that is where the fuckery lies -- because too many people want to deny equal rights to people of color and their racism is driving public policy
and I also think we need to go back to a tax system comparable to what it was before trump "reformed it"
and this is a big part of why the world is on fuckn TILT
we are in a crisis and nothing will come out exactly the same as where we started in 2017
and personally, this makes me sad
as I didn't think the "system" was completely dysfunctional
but right wing ideologues wanted to push a radical approach and that approach didn't work
time to fix what is broken, if possible
but starting all over -- that would be an even bigger #disaster, imo
than what we have now
