my response to the idea that people are taught racism

. . . my father was a George Wallace supporter (and we lived in Ohio) a member of the NRA and openly racist (I was a "first generation" Yankee -- and never heard the end of it, either) . . . so, too, (the racism, that is) pretty much everyone in my family

the issue isn't where you come from, it is "who you are" and what you will "allow"

saying Granpappy Beauregard was a racist so I am, too

happens far too often

the tipping point in Trump's favor with his "followers" -- who (not all that deep down are racist as fuck in most cases) were people who voted against their own self-interest because their self-esteem was SO LOW they needed to find someone they could look at as being "less than them"

Trump provided pre-fab "targets" for their hatred

"it's not because you're inbred uneducated white trash that you're not CEO of Amazon, it's because them damn furriners stole your legacy" -- that "noise"

those who are wealthy and "educated" and being smoke screens for trump's PT Barnum charade are #complicit in conning the ones in rural America or urban members of the "underclass" who need a weaker dog to kick, so they perpetuate this "narrative"

the #concept that "I was taught" racism is bull shit

guarantee you, if all it takes is the words coming out of your parent's mouths to teach you racism, then I have a Ph.D
this isn't #it

people taught racism who continue "being racist" are really just #conformists afraid to speak their own truths

so it isn't, to me, a matter of what you were taught

but whether you are willing to speak for yourself and not be a nodding head to everyone else

good bad or indifferent, I speak "my own mind"

I don't echo insanity because it's in style
