so I can only imagine the reactions of women staffers sitting around the table . . . these were things said in closed door staff meetings with multiple members
yet even I realized "dude, this is kind of blurring the line"
I was always super conscious of these lines and tried to make sure I didn't cross them and to help ensure that I tried to not even get close to that line
ironically, when I was an IT Contractor and later corporate executive, I was actually kind of a boring cat, as I turned the flame on my inner fire down to about 0.002
when I was a customer service agent or had jobs like that sure I was flirty and usually it was because people started flirting with me and I pretty quickly responded . . . these were positions in which we were all in the same boat, bottom of the barrel
I had no professional carrot to dangle
but when I had ANY kind of managerial role, then I had to be VERY different . . . VERY different, indeed
I heard these stories all the time; this was "Corporate America" where beautiful young female staffers were treated in ways (both good and bad) very much as if they were young models or actresses, even though they were there because they had the education and skill sets (most of the time, anyway) with which to compete with "the boys"
a complicated world -- some women used their sexuality to get promotions they didn't deserve while those who were there to only "do their job" likely were by-passed for positions because they weren't "team players", if you follow my drift
I doubt there was any "insider" in Hollywood on any level from actress to grip to 2nd A.D. who didn't know in full detail 90% of every Weiner Stain story straight from jump
same with Toback and all the others
for people now to say they didn't "know", I find this sort of hard to believe but . . . perhaps
however, GETTING any job in which "position" and the money and power that comes along with it
comes with a serious price tag
but the price quotes are very very different for beautiful young women
they get things . . . they are "expected" to be generous, though, for what they get
and just as psychics have quite unreasonable and line-blurring invasive requests from people who try to use them because the psychic "has a gift"
and somehow, in some twisted "Opposite Day" world view, owes the gift to those for whom Santa bypassed
it also sometimes seems that beautiful women (and men, too, on occasion) are expected to pay for that "gift of beauty" in ways that seem
#unfair
yes it's complicated but it doesn't have to be . . . if you expect people to do things of a sexual nature as part of their "job description" and their actual JOB is Marketing Assistant or Model/Actress/Musician
then you're the #problem
and collectively what we need now is, first, a #discussion
and then, and hopefully, SOON
a #solution
