but what tends to happen is that rather than ground decisions in "best practice" what works best for the most, it (instead) devolves into a special interests buffet and a stick up the ass to anyone not on the preferred guest list
and far too often politicians give their "ear" to those with large pockets and fail to see a holistic, fully integrated "big picture"
what I said before the inauguration was that Trump's "style" would be one of quick hits, with little analysis and so lots of smoke but a tiny fire behind it
moderate, middle ground thinking -- what might in a rational universe seem like a fair way of doing things (I'll compromise on this if you can meet me half-way over here on that)
is thrown out the window and it is a my way or the highway double or triple down 'tude that rulez the day
until we find some meaningful way of splitting the difference and can have an actual DISCUSSION that doesn't immediately digress into some he said she said trip through Hell
we will continue to go further and further down some ill-defined and quite slippery slope
something is "terribly off" and finding a solution doesn't mean you throw everything out -- it means you root out the underlying problem and "address it"
sadly, in our sound bite 140 character universe we, as a nation, seem to have lost this "skill"
