sad people don't just turn on a happy face, with a crank or a crayon, and suddenly feel happy . . . it is more complicated than this
unhappy people tend to seek reasons to remain unhappy because, perhaps, they fear a greater despair if they "take a chance" . . . too often we create "a safety zone" of sadness . . . I can live with this, can I live with something greater . . . this is how it works
this is why telling people to "get over it" can never do anything other
than make them feel #less_willing to move forward
it doesn't help and it doesn't work and in our #profession recognizing this is the most critical piece of information confronting us
so many people -- I see it EVERYWHERE . . . create these artificial New Age platitudes and #thought_shame people for not "creating" their happy, #together reality . . . not every heart looks good on Instagram, not every person can look at their childhood and boil it down to a catchy meme
. . . you can't build a car with old newspapers, you can't do brain surgery with a feather . . . you need tools and know how
and those who feel this break within themselves
are searching for tools, searching for tricks as to how it's done
we beat people up for not having their shit together
and this is wrong
on so many levels
this is why this country is sick
because there are millions of people here collectively looking for reasons to blame those who are sad -- for fear they will "catch" what the other "has"
blame them, shame them
for not "feeling happy" or being #productive, not caring about the back story, not caring about what people do in order to find, once more, some #happy_space
a dilemma, one getting worse by the hour in every city, every state
getting worse every single day
we have created a world that does its damnedest to break people
and this process is pre-loaded with a boomerang
and thus does the future of America
