those who "repeat patterns" are looking for the emotion, yet they think they are looking for the partner
it is the "rush" that comes with triggering the emotion -- even (no, ESPECIALLY) if the emotion is a "negative" one
to break the pattern, one has to first "detox" from the craving for that particlular emotional "rush"
at its "core", this is no different than any other "addiction" -- first you have to understand that your addiction is causing a "problem"
and then you have to be motivated to change
. . . all addictions have similar features
typically they are a compensatory action
this is no different, fundamentally, from any other addiction
with this exception -- with an alcoholic, he knows he buys vodka to get drunk
with this -- there may not be the same causal relationship awareness
but, at its core level, they are more similar than different
an addiction, with a craving that will "need to be filled"
until one gets the high "somewhere else"
ideally in a postive productive way
