we need to show some compassion to those who may be facing what is coming with Irma -- made even worse, psychologically, due to having JUST seen what happened in Texas
I have purposely "played down" a bit my expectations as to the destructive power inherent in this hurricane, as I know what I say "scares people" and this "scaring people" part of my universe
is something of which I am VERY conscious
knowing that I had predicted major flooding issues as well as saying "don't be surprised" if something follows right after Harvey
. . . the weather now is "different"; I have been saying it for the past several years, really a drum beat of mine since 2010
these patterns will continue and people living along the coasts, especially along the Atlantic Coast from Virginia on down to South America
will see their worlds (in my opinion) rocked over and over again
but, right now, none of that matters. What DOES matter is helping people stay calm and hopeful
in the short-term
also, most people living in these areas are not in the position to just hop in the car -- what if they have no car or a car that is not dependable
and go . . . nor, perhaps, are they financially in a position to absorb the costs associated with evacuation
there is a LOT here to consider
the "issues" coming out of Harvey and Irma and whatever comes next are not limited to the destruction caused by the storms
it is what people decide to do AFTER the storms clear
this is where the pain, frustration, and tragedy is waiting
right now, people need compassion; they don't need judgment
unless you have seen your world totally blown apart, you have NO idea as to what may be going through the minds of people right now in the Southeast
keep your fingers crossed; be kind and hope for the best
