It is encouraging to see people are outraged about sexual abuse in the Catholic Church . . . but when I talked about this 10 years ago (and repeatedly in the years that followed) -- because there were hundreds of allegations back then and lots of stories in the news
the typical response was to attack those of us who said something and (like Trump's hillbilly militia) see people going ballistic about our #audacity for saying "hey, sexually abusing 6 year olds doesn't really seem the "Christian thing" to do !!"
the list of Catholics (and others) telling me to shut up because "who was I" to talk about the Catholic Church . . . let's just say this was a long (and vocal) list
we need to flip the narrative and start seeing the abuse of children as important and stop protecting powerful people who commit crimes -- because they're powerful people and children aren't
