a little "Andy History" lesson . . . back when housing prices where skyrocketing and people were making money "flipping houses" and I was still a $300,000 a year corporate executive, I said the housing market would #crash, hard core, and talked about something I didn't completely understand that I called a "bank bailout" -- literally, this is what I called it
well, this happened, in spite of several people telling me it was impossible, I was being "negative", etc etc etc -- after my daughter's death and my corporate "retirement", I "unretired" from my previous profession and started doing radio shows again as a "psychic"
in one of these shows, when told to "think positive" about what was coming (this was just after "The Secret" first burst onto the scene) I said, literally, word for word
"if it makes you feel better, I am positive the housing market is going to crash"
which it did
a few years later, after the economy had completely stalled, I started saying "the economy is going to improve"
just as before, people (now invested in the idea that today was how everyday from now on would be) accused me of being "overly optimistic"
five years earlier, I was a pessimist doom spreader; now I was a Pollyannist
once more, NO one believed me -- I was openly attacked (for saying just the reverse of what I had said 4-5 years earlier) and told I didn't know what I was talking about
but, within a couple of years, the economy began to pick up steam and start cranking along
THEN I said, this was around 2010/2011, all the while saying the economy is going to get better, I also said there would be a rise in right wing politics, much like we saw in the 1930's
first in the EU but followed shortly thereafter in the United States
ONCE AGAIN, I was told I was an idiot, didn't know what I was talking about, "I thought you were supposed to be psychic" etc etc
also, when BREXIT passed, I said this had a "fuzzy vibe" and would come with lots of complications and hemming and hawwing and was still sort of undecided, no matter how the vote turned out that day
ONCE AGAIN, told I was an idiot, shut the fuck up, etc etc etc
I predicted chaos with trump, predicted there would be all sorts of financial crimes from his past that would come to light, predicted it would be, basically, a 3 ring circus
yes, idiot, stupid Libtard, you call yourself "a psychic?" etc etc etc
of course, there are Neo-Nazis everywhere now; right wing populist parties have been on the ascendant in the EU and within the United States for the past 5 years, and pretty much all of what I said would happen, HAS happened
NOW I am saying this craziness with trump will pass, we will return to some semblance of normalcy and yes I can understand your fears
but I think things will #get_better
that doesn't mean they will be better in a week, or a month, or even 2-3 years; maybe they will, maybe they won't
but the long-term "health" of the United States is stronger than the rash it has today
I don't think it is that far off before we start to see things moving back to "normal"
that will be a bad day for the trumps, of course, but a good day for everyone else
the most consistent element of this narrative is this: I talk about long-term trends
people can only see 5 minutes ahead
this is why I "confuse people" (no doubt)
but . . . things will get better
we have some serious fixing to do and will need some long-term healing
but I think we, do, "get better"
that is what I #see
