by those who have abused them, or enabled in some way the abuser
saying, in essence, that what happened "didn't happen that way"
this is done in an attempt to deflect guilt . . . typically causing the victim to question his or her own eyes moving forward; this is especially problematic for children whose cognitive frameworks are not fully formed
same thing holds true with rapists who blame the one they rape for "inciting the action"
all a means of transference
and that transference is accomplished, in large part, by trying to discredit the witness (so to speak)
which is ultimately a "plan" to raise the value of the original abuser by working to push down the "value" (and credibility) of "the abused"
